MCHC Welcomes New Primary Care Provider.
Carrie Guilfoyle, Adult Nurse Practitioner has joined our primary care team.
Guilfoyle, a graduate of Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, is now seeing adult patients (16+) at MCHC Health Centers, in both the Ukiah and Willits locations.
Carrie’s journey into medicine began in West Africa, where she served for three years as a Community Health Volunteer with the Peace Corps. Following her time in Africa, Carrie received her Registered Nursing (RN) license and spent time providing culturally sensitive emergency care in Baltimore, at Saint Agnes Hospital. Her Nurse Practitioner program included another two years of training, focused on comprehensive, evidence-based care for adults. This training along with three years of experience in primary care has prepared Carrie for treating patients with complex or chronic issues. She frequently sees patients from our community who are experiencing health issues such as high cholesterol, diabetes, and anxiety, in addition to common ailments such as viral and bacterial infections.
Most providers develop special interests over time, areas of specialty within medicine that they feel drawn towards. Carrie describes her special interest, “I like to incorporate nutritional counseling into my visits with patients, as diet is the cornerstone of overall health and wellbeing. Working with patients to set and achieve their health goals, is the best part of the work I do.”
MCHC Chief Medical Officer, Jerry Douglas MD, states “Carrie Guilfoyle is an experienced nurse practitioner who is personable and skilled in adult care. Her focus on health and wellness fits well with our team.”
