Recreation

Life in Lake County is dominated by two natural elements: majestic Mt. Konocti and beautiful Clear Lake. Clear Lake is the recreational center of the County and, almost year round, it offers boating, fishing, windsurfing, paddle boarding, bird watching and the serenity to be enjoyed along its shores. The environment centered around Clear Lake fosters a rich variety of birds, fish and game.

Culture and Community

Living in Lake County is a little like going back in time. It is a county of small towns, far from the bustle of city life, where people still really know their neighbors. The County Fair is still a big deal, and agriculture is still a viable way of life. It’s a great place to raise a family and to enjoy the serenity of a semi-rural lifestyle.

Lake County’s pace may be somewhat slower, but the creative energy and talents of local residents make it an interesting place to live. The Chamber of Commerce is very active, and cultural resources are developing. Clear Lake Performing Arts offers a winter concert season. Starting just after Memorial Day and running until Labor Day, the gazebo at Lakeport’s Library Park hosts a series of free concerts that bring out almost everyone. It’s a great place to meet your neighbors, enjoy a picnic, and dance under the stars.
